About
I was first introduced to the idea of social enterprise during my time as Business Development and Finance Manager with Solas Project. Their programme, The Yard, showed me that business and social impact could work in tandem. I have always had a strong interest in the world of business and, simultaneously, felt compelled to contribute to my community in a positive way.
Social enterprise successfully combines my talents and passions.
My work as CEO of ReCreate exposed me to the wider social enterprise community. During this time, I began to fully understand the potential of social enterprise to transform society. Part of my job as CEO was to grow the organisation. In an effort to improve my tactics, I participated in professional development. The more I learned, the more I realised how little training existed for scaling social enterprise in Ireland. The pursuit of a Ph.D. in this area felt like a calling; an opportunity to research best practices for scaling social enterprise around the world.
My
Vision
I see clearly how social enterprise makes a valuable contribution to our society. As a result, I’m passionate about helping these organisations reach their maximum potential. My Ph.D. is focussed on scaling: I hope to demystify this process, specifically for social enterprise, as I document tactics that work and learn from those that don’t.
Ultimately, I hope to become a valuable resource to the Irish social enterprise sector by becoming an industry expert on scaling.
As a Qualified Accountant with an MBA from Trinity College Dublin and 20 years of practical experience, I offer a unique skill set and point of view. I have first-hand experience of the challenges that come with running a business, social or otherwise. This, paired with my academic journey, gives me a well-rounded, highly informed approach to social enterprise consultancy.
Today, I sit on the board of Quality Matters and am on the advisory panel of Grow Remote and Gorm.
